Time Flies By

It's been months since my last post. Things have been busy for the past months. A lot has happened in the life of me and my family.

Our daughter was born. She is almost 4 months now and more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Healthy too.

Alexander is doing great. The cutest little man I've ever seen. He's groing at his pace, not quite the average 16 month kid but on track. He'll catch up in a couple of years.

I'm amazed at how they are developing their unique personalities at such a young age. They both love the TV and Alexander is hooked with Yo-Gaba-Gaba and now Barney. He'll sit still for a whole show with no complaints. My girl, she loves daddy. I get home and she's waiking up so I lay next to her and it's just smiling and screaming with joy.

My wife is doing great too. Now more excited than ever that we're making plans to move close to her parents. I think she loves me more for that. But definitely we need it. We need their help cause two kids takes a toll on both of us. We want to have more dates and alone time and with kids it's just impossible.

But God has been good to us. I can't complain. All our needs have been met and beyond. I hope i can get back on track with my blogging and web desing. It's a hobby I enjoy and now that we're going to get some help with the kids I may actually have time to do some work.

What Is The Secret To Philippians 4:13?

I'm at church early today, it's Saturday. No, I didn't mess up my days and thought it was Monday or something. Today I'm giving piano classes. I'm waiting for students.

I've been thinking a lot about Philippians 4:13. You know, the most over used verse in the Bible. But reading it, in it's context things change. Paul is speaking about personal needs and writting to a church that has noticed and responded to his needs.

Here's part of the text: "...for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength." (v.11-13).

I'm curious to know what that secret is. I can imagine what it is, but am I right? Is it the knowledge that God will supply all our needs inspite of the reality that hits? I suppose so. But isn't there a sense of worry while we go through these times? I mean, is Paul talking about how he knows the secret of not to worry, because being content seems to point towards that direction.

Paul didn't have a family to look after; a wife and kids to take care of. Does that change everything? Can the "secret" apply to those circumstances.

During seminary you could have found me speaking like Paul. I could have gone throught the day with one meal and not even care. It was tipical, I guess it's part of the preparation right. But now with a family things are so different. Worrying is harder not to do. I'm sure many parents out there know what I'm talking about.

I believe that Paul's secret to contentment is possible even with totally different circumstances. God promises to take care of us. It's a matter of trusting God so much that even there's nothing, He will provide. It's like the question Francis Chan was asked which he mentioned in his book "Crazy Love"; What is requires faith in your life right now? I believe the secret lies in having this radical-blind faith in God that says and lives out "it's all good, God is in control" during times that really seem out of control.

I guess we only will find out the secret when we face these hard-I can only depend on God-times.
